Lakeland Flexes Muscles Over Specially Fit Academy, 48-6.

Dreadnaught Nation watched Lakeland utilize its passing game, in an air raid style, to overpower the Rams at Bryant Stadium on October 17th.

The Dreadnaughts filled the air with passes, as Lakeland amassed an impressive 387 passing yards and five (5) touchdowns. Kelin Hendrix (QB) led the aerial assault, completing 14 of 20 passes for 311 yards and four (4) touchdowns, including scoring tosses of 31 yards, 47 yards, 61 yards and 62 yards. Caleb McFarlane (QB) also added to the scoring party, completing five (5) of eight (8) passes for 76 yards and a touchdown. Jerry Thomas (WR) had a career night by hauling in four (4) catches for a whopping 212 yards; all receptions were touchdowns.

The Dreadnaughts also contributed on the ground. Kelin Hendrix led all ballcarriers with three (3) caries for 20 yards and a score. Both Ahnarri Cooper (RB) and Ja’darious Dobie (RB) added four (4) carries for 16 yards and 15 yards, respectively.

Lakeland’s special teams also added to the scoring festivities when Jordan Young (DB) returned a punt block 22 yards to the end zone.

The Dreadnaught defense remained true to form this season by dominating Specially Fit Academy, holding the Rams to six (6) points, gained in the second quarter.

The Dreadnaughts sealed their victory with an avalanche of points in the second quarter. Lakeland scored three (3) touchdowns to build their lead to 26-6 at halftime.

Lakeland will battle cross-town rival Kathleen on Thursday, October 23th at 7:00 PM. In recent years, this game has been a rivalry in name only as the Dreadnaughts have dominated. The Red Devils have a 2-6 record, having defeated George Jenkins 28-7 last Friday.
