Dreadnaughts Stampede Kowboys, 40-6.

Lakeland traveled to Markus Paul Stadium last Friday and performed like a tsunami. For the second time this season, the Dreadnaughts proved dangerous on the road, overwhelming Osceola from the opening whistle, and never loosening their grip in a 40–6 demolition.

Kelin Hendrix (QB) commanded the night with the poise of a veteran and the explosiveness of a playmaker who refused to be contained. He completed 17 of 22 passes for 180 yards, a sharp 77% clip, but it was his legs that broke Osceola’s spirit. He slashed through the Kowboys’ defense for 94 yards on just 10 carries, adding three scores, and setting the tone for an unstoppable Lakeland rushing attack.

Every Lakeland touchdown came on the ground. Xavion Mitchell (RB) ran with a punishing rhythm, piling up 85 yards on nine carries, and a score. Deshaun Smalls (RB) added 31 yards on seven carries, and a touchdown. Joseph Howard (WR) contributed to the rushing onslaught with an 8‑yard burst into the end zone.

The Kowboys, trailed 21–0, at halftime, with no lifeline in sight.

Osceola had not suffered a running clock in more than 20 years. The last time, also against Lakeland, resulted in a 56–0 defeat in 2005. History repeated itself when Lakeland added a 19-point third quarter.

Any flicker of hope died on the first series of the second half. Lakeland needed only five plays to travel 80 yards, with Xavion Mitchell ripping off a 46‑yard sprint before finishing the drive with a 10‑yard touchdown run. Moments later, Osceola fumbled, and the Dreadnaughts pounced again, taking over at the Kowboys’ 28-yard line. Joseph Howard delivered the dagger with his 8‑yard touchdown run that made the outcome inevitable.

Osceola avoided the shutout on the final play of the game, a 2‑yard run by Javontay Barnett (RB).

The numbers told the story with ruthless clarity: Lakeland outgained Osceola 402–43, held the Kowboys to 4 rushing yards on 25 carries, and allowed just 39 passing yards.
The Dreadnaughts now return home to Bryant Stadium for a showdown against American Heritage, ranked No. 6 in Florida by MaxPreps, on September 18th. The Patriots are coming off a dramatic 15–14 win over Trinity Christian Academy. Kickoff is set for 7:30 PM.
