The Dreadnaughts returned to their winning ways as they ventured to Markus Paul Stadium and sailed home with a victory over Kissimmee Osceola.
The Kowboys played without multiple key offensive players, including Taevion Swint (four-star RB and University of Central Florida commitment). Without these players, Kissimmee Osceola had little hope of winning the contest. The Dreadnaughts’ proved this true in dominating fashion as Lakeland held Kissimmee Osceola to only 100 yards of total offense.
Lakeland’s first points of the game occurred by way of the defense as the Dreadnaughts recorded a safety when Camren West (QB) recovered an errant snap, then defenders tackled him in the end zone. The defense also provided points later in the half via a fumble recovery, forced by Orenthal Tinsley (OLB), and returned 80 yards for a touchdown by Robert Anderson (OLB).
The Dreadnaughts also had successful touchdown drives; Markel Johnson (RB) broke tackles and ran 15 yards for the score; and Jamar Taylor (WR) hauled in an 18-yard pass for a touchdown.
Calum Muldoon (K) also contributed to the scoring when he booted a 24-yard field goal in the first half.
The Dreadnaughts built a 26-0 halftime lead that would not be threatened by the Kowboys and would be the final margin of victory.
Lakeland is on the road again next Friday as the Dreadnaughts face the Winter Haven Blue Devils at Denison Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 PM on September 22nd.
