Dreadnaughts Bludgeon Rams, 58-0.

Lakeland overwhelmed Specialty Fit Academy from the opening whistle, rolling to a 58-0 victory over the Rams at Bryant Stadium last Friday.

The shutout was Lakeland’s second of the season and marked the third time the Dreadnaughts have held an opponent to six points or fewer.

Lakeland took immediate control, scoring 23 points in the first quarter and another 21 in the second, including a pair of two-point conversions. The onslaught gave the Dreadnaughts a commanding 44-0 halftime advantage.

With a running clock accelerating the second half, Lakeland added one touchdown in each of the final two quarters to complete the rout.

The Dreadnaughts did most of their damage on the ground, piling up 174 rushing yards and five touchdowns. Xavion Mitchell (RB) led the way with 90 yards and two touchdowns on just six carries. Kelin Hendrix (QB) added 34 yards and a touchdown on two attempts, while Ahnarri Cooper (RB) and Steward Butler (RB) each found the end zone.

Lakeland was equally efficient when it went to the air. Kelin Hendrix (QB) completed all three of his passes for 61 yards and a touchdown. Marcus McElhaney (QB) and Charles Chukes (QB) were also perfect, finishing 2-of-2 and 1-of-1, respectively, with each throwing a touchdown pass.

Cam Fuse (WR) provided the biggest play of the passing game, hauling in a 51-yard bomb and racing to the end zone. Wendell Carlson (TE) added a 22-yard touchdown reception, while Zo Vildor (WR) caught an eight-yard scoring pass.

Lakeland’s defense and special teams were just as disruptive, consistently creating problems for the Rams. Travoris Black (DB) recorded an interception, Charles Calhoun (LB) blocked two punts, Ahmaad Watts (DB) forced a fumble, and Deonte Fielder (DB) recovered a fumble as the Dreadnaughts kept Specialty Fit Academy off the scoreboard.

Lakeland will go on the road next Friday for a matchup against Sebring. The Blue Streaks enter the game at 4-2 after most recently defeating Bartow, 24-21. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
